Windemere

Addition and Renovation

Windemere, originally built in 1907 as a Tudor hunting lodge, underwent major renovations in the 1990s. However, these renovations masked many of the home’s original features. The new owners wanted to restore the home’s original character while also adding modern comforts and conveniences.
To achieve this, the interior was gutted and equipped with new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Many of the windows and doors were replaced with modern versions that still maintained the original locations while giving the house a fresh new look. The porch at the back of the home, which had been enclosed by a previous owner, was restored to its original state as a shaded outdoor area overlooking the new swimming pool and family room addition. Despite the new owners having some worry about the home’s Tudor design being dark and stodgy, they are thrilled with the modern twist on this 100+ year old Tudor icon.
